How high is Åre Mountain?

The height of Åreskutan

Åreskutan reaches 1420 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest mountains in Sweden south of the Arctic Circle. The summit is easy to reach by cable car and offers a wide panoramic view over the Åre valley and surrounding mountains. On a clear day, you can see as far as Sylarna and Helags to the west.

Sweden’s highest mountain, Kebnekaise, measures 2103 meters above sea level. Compared with Åreskutan, it is significantly higher and located roughly 900 kilometers further north. Even so, Åreskutan is one of the tallest peaks south of the Arctic Circle.

There are several methods used to measure the height of a mountain. Hiking to the summit of Åreskutan is a fantastic experience for anyone who enjoys a challenge and beautiful scenery. There are several hiking trails to choose from, each with different levels of difficulty and length.

A popular route is the trail from Fjällgården, which is about 4 kilometers long and takes around one to two hours to hike. It is relatively easy and suitable for families with children.

For those looking for a tougher challenge, there are longer and steeper trails, such as the route from Åre village, which is around 10 kilometers long and takes three to four hours. No matter which trail you choose, you will be rewarded with stunning views from the top.

Once you reach the top of Åreskutan, you are greeted by a panoramic view of the surrounding highlands. You can see mountain peaks, valleys, lakes, and forest-covered slopes stretching in all directions. It is an impressive sight that gives a strong sense of freedom.
