Official opening date for Högzon
Högzon usually opens a bit later than the other ski areas in Åre. The opening date depends largely on snow conditions, but it typically opens early in the year, in January or February. For the 2024/2025 season, Högzon is planned to open on 3 February.
This date may change depending on the weather. A winter with little snow may delay the opening, while a snowy winter can allow Högzon to open earlier.
What affects the opening date?
Several factors influence when Högzon can open for the season. The most important factor, of course, is the amount of snow. To open the lifts and pistes in Högzon, there must be enough snow for safe and enjoyable skiing.
Weather conditions also play a big role. Storms, strong winds, or thick fog can make it dangerous to operate the lifts in Högzon. Temperature is another important factor, cold weather is required to produce artificial snow and maintain good piste quality. This ensures that the slopes are in good condition every day.
